Jazz pianist Ehud Asherie returns to The Shedd’s Jaqua Concert Hall with a tribute to the extraordinarily prolific and long-working composer/lyricist Irving Berlin. As colleague Jerome Kern put it late in both of their careers, “Irving Berlin has no place in American music. He is American music. Emotionally, he honestly absorbs the vibrations emanating from the people, manners and life of his time and, in turn, gives these impressions back to the world – simplified, clarified and glorified.” Ehud offers his own take on the master’s nonpareil legacy.
