Just Porch it gets items out of your haird and out of the landfill

Whether you’re downsizing, handling an estate or simply passing along items no longer needed, donating or disposing items just got easier.

Just Porch It, begun 13 years ago in Jene D’Ambrosio and her husband’s garage, offers home pickup of most items in any condition, throughout the Willamette Valley. The service is free, with pickups on weekdays, typically three days to a week after scheduling.

Items accepted run the gamut. “We’ll take anything from home that fits in a bag, says Jene, “be it a Target bag or 33-gallon yard bag.” Examples include clothing, shoes, backpacks and purses, belts, hats, towels, linens and small household items. Not accepted are items that are wet, moldy or perishable.

The company partners with affiliates such as schools, churches, thrifts and the like. “We’re not competing with these organizations, we’re working with them,” Jene says.

How can such a service be free?

“We are a textile recycling company,” Jene explains. In short, this means Just Porch It ships items in good, wearable or usable condition to Africa or South America. “These countries don’t have access to the quality or grade of products we enjoy here,” says Jene. “Our mall is their marketplace, and most items for sale are used.

Items not in usable condition are separated out and sold in the US to be recycled for use in carpet padding or underlay materials.

While home pickup is standard, donation bins may be available upon request. To learn more, visit justporchit.com or call/text 800 965 6519. If while on the website you click on “Locate a Donation Bin,” you’ll find yourself at EcoWorldTrading.com, Just Porch It’s sister company.
