Birding Walk, Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge

November 19, 2022 @ 8:00 am - 10:30 am

Free

Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge has wetlands, forest, and meadow habitats that support a variety of birds. In fall and winter the open water attracts waterfowl such as Northern Shovelers, Gadwall, Green-winged Teal, Common Mergansers, and other duck species. American Coots. Pied-billed Grebes and Great Blue Herons are common. Along the trail through the woods we’ll look for the resident woodpeckers, nuthatches, chickadees, wrens, kinglets and other songbirds. Birding instructor Elaine Murphy will bring her spotting scope to help us identify and get a closer look at the birds we find. Dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes. Bring binoculars if you have them. Mobility Rating: this program is not accessible to mobility devices such as walkers, wheelchairs or scooters.
