DIY Project to Light Up the Season

This Yule log has long been a favorite at the Portland Garden Club’s Joy Holiday Sale. Folks love its fragrant smell when lit, and that it can also serve as a lovely holiday centerpiece or gift.

The club’s Holiday sale, “Joy 2024” happens Dec 7, 10-1 at 1132 SW Vista Ave in Portland. Offerings include holiday gift, crafts, ornaments, topiaries, décor, and collectibles.

Holiday Yule Craft

Materials:

• 2 Logs / 3 pieces kindling / 3 Fatwood sticks
• 3 long matches
• Décor: Wood/citrus ornaments, cinnamon sticks, raffia ribbon, fresh/dried greens, pinecones, other foliage
• Twine, Clippers, Scissors

Instructions:

• Lay logs side by side and tie together
• Add 3 pieces of twine underneath in one-thirds
• Add kindling to the end of the log and wrap once in twine
• Add greens & flat wood sticks and wrap with twine
• Complete with pinecones, citrus, wood, or other natural material, matches and add final wrap
