Oregon Senior Games Profile: Track and Field Athlete Erica Piccolo

The Oregon Senior Games return to Corvallis this August. In anticipation of events to come 50plus met with participating athletes and volunteers. Their stories are fun and fascinating, and on this they all agree: “The games are a blast — for participants and spectators alike. See for yourself! Today, meet track & field athlete Erica Piccolo.

Erica Piccolo grew up playing tennis. Then her sprinter father suggested she try track and field. Finding success in events like the hammer throw, long jump, triple jump, shot put and the occasional 100m, her tennis racket went into storage.

Last year, Erica again donned her track shoes for the Oregon Senior Games. She loved the experience — the events, supportive volunteers and the sense of camaraderie among participants. So much that she’ll be back this summer.

“Sign up and you won’t regret it!” enthuses the Lake Oswego athlete. “You’ll have fun competing, meeting fellow athletes and visiting charming Corvallis!”
